Where do you live?: pakistan

i have a vpn installed in my company.I am a bit new to this.what i wanted to know was that how can i find out the which side is the client and which is the server side.our 2 side are the USA and Pakistan.and the vpn is some how not working.i have to configure it.but i first have to know that which is the client and which is the server side.can any 1 help me plz.cheers
