Hi Tortoise,

While I have not had experience with either of these companies - I took a look at their websites and offerings.

Both are definately targetted at getting you through the Exams, with sample tests and information about what will be on the test. Be cautious about trying to memorize questions - as Microsoft frequently changes the test questions, often in response to seeing what the sample tests out on the net look like. All it would take is a slight tweak to a question on a test to make it TOTALLY different. Also - when looking at the sample tests - they will often tell you what the answer is - but prove it for yourself - don't just take it for granted that they are right.

I had a student who failed his Microsoft exam for Windows 2003 - right after the Exam came out. The student had been sitting in the back of the classroom studing what I though was a review guide. It turned out, someone had bought a set of questions from one of the companies that just sells questions. He asked me why he failed, and he showed me the questions he was reviewing. After looking through the first 10 or so - I had found 3 that the "correct" answers on the sample tests were WRONG. We spent about 45 minutes going over the sample questions, and he realized the questions were good (some looked just like the real ones!), but since he had memorized the wrong answers - it explained why he failed. The second time through he passed with flying colors - so between what he learned in the class, the sample questions, and the ability to figure the correct answer out - he passed that text and the next one he took.

The best advice I can give for Passing Microsoft Tests:
1. Experience - you need to use the product you are taking the test on. I typically do NOT spend an enoromous amount of time studing for a Microsoft Exam if I have been using that product for a while. Test questions are so much easier to answer if you have the experience to elimiate the wrong answers. they can spin the question any way they want - if I've used it - I can usually figure out the answer.

2. Knowledge - you need to know how the topics on the test work. Simply memorizing questions is not knowledge - that's regurgataion. Knowledge is know-how.

3. Practice - use the questions for practice - and don't just take the answers for granted. Prove the answer on a system - it will help you get Experience - and explain the answer - that will get you Knowledge.

While I have not targetted my videos here at www.LearnWindows2003.com and www.LearnExchange.com for passing exams - a few people have let me know that just watching/listening to the videos has helped them get through the exams.

Good luck on your 070-290 Exam!
